JUTEM was established in 1991 to contribute the development of materials for high temperature use at 1500℃ and above. Such materials are refractory metals and alloys, ceramics and composites. Those are to be utilized as the parts of aircrafts, space flyers, power stations, etc. JUTEM has facilities and equipments which can be used at elevated temperature and pressure, such as HP(Hot Press), HIP(High temperature Isostatic Press), etc. JUTEM also has the facilities to make metal powders and single crystal. Measurements of thermal properties such as thermal conductivity, enthalpy and emissivity at high temperature, 1500℃ and above, are available.
